I had kind of the same experience only he was a Lt. Couldn't hit the broadside of a barn with the M-16. I think it took him twice to qualify...crazy.

My M-16 jammed twice, and I don't know why. I used to think that the armory doesn't maintain the rifles properly. I got a 21 that time, but I don't get to practice at all.

I got to shoot the M9 on leave with a family member at a public shooting range. He complemented me on good groups. I really don't think the basics are difficult to master.

I shot pretty good but when i was cleaning the M16 afterwards, i about stripped a crap load of skin of my finger using the cleaning rod. Yea, it sucked.

When I was in Korea I was in a mobile comm unit and we had one SMSgt that hadn't shot since he was in BMT back in the stone age... Tell me how the heck that happens!?
